soffice --writer fails with 'com::sun::star::container::NoSuchElementException'

    I've had a successful
        compile of LibreOffice after cloning from https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/core
        
        
        When running soffice It bombs out
        
> $
>           /home/alex/master/instdir/program/soffice --writer
>           terminate called after throwing an instance of
>           'com::sun::star::container::NoSuchElementException'
>         
        
        It doesn't give me much of a clue as to where to look.
        
        Anyone give me a pointer as to where to start.
        
        If it's any help I'm compiling against JDK11.
