Interested in open source for libre office

My name is Nikhil Varghese and  I am a 2nd  student who is interested in contributing  to open source and I thought it would be good to contribute to libre office.I am a beginner in open source  but I know the basics of c, c++,java .I just want to know what are the first steps to be taken and how could I contribute to libre office
