Default gateway with multiple routing tables

Linux Advanced Routing and Traffic Control

Hi all

I am a newbie to routing and I have a problem. I am trying to setup a
Load Balanced router with the help of Advanced Routing and iproute2. I
came across netsane script(http://muse.linuxmafia.org/netsane/) and
Christopher Simon's nano how to which told me some basic steps to do
so. As i follwed these I ran into a few questions and problems.

1. Is it possible that I have no default gateway added
I only have a default gateway added to the routing tables. But when
I tried doing so, my applications failed to work since they could not
find a gateway to exit. Does the Linux routing module look at all the
possible tables as per their priority to find a route or a gateway to
send the packet. Or does it look only into the main and local tables

2. When I use it to do Load Balancing will it be possible for me load
balance based on sessions rather than based on peer IP addresses,
since this limits when I am not directly connected to multiple IP
addresses. When I am have a few machines generating quite a traffic it
will not be load balanced since a route is already there in the
routing cache and will be time and again used.

Looking forward to your help
