routing failover

Linux Advanced Routing and Traffic Control

Hello,
i read an old message of Ard van Breemen with subject "More things about /proc /
failover of default gateway"
and tryed to do the same config. But then i'm inserting the second default route
ip tells:
root@epia# ip route add default via 192.168.1.1
RTNETLINK answers: File exists

As i know, there are no way to insert more than one route to some net (even
0/0), exept for kernel routes.

how it's possible to execute command from the above message?
>ip link set dev eth0 up
>ip link set dev eth1 up
>ip addr add 192.168.1.10/24 dev eth0
>ip addr add 192.168.2.10/24 dev eth1
>ip route add default via 192.168.1.1
>ip route add default via 192.168.2.1

adv routing is on, equalcostmultipath too (but we don't need it)
kernel 2.4.23 (gentoo source)

thanx for any help
PoltoS/
