After Stef's advice to use the Hierarchy Token Bucket for my QoS needs, I've run across the problem of recompiling the kernel. I've always tried to stay away from this (although have done it) - but I'd appreciate some hand holding. The kernel is RedHat 8.0 2.4.18-18, and maybe I'm escaping myself, I've found /lib/modules/2.4.18-18.8.0/kernel/net/sched/sch_htb.o The source for this shows a version tag of: * $Id: sch_htb.c,v 1.13 2002/05/25 09:04:50 devik Exp $ If this really needs recompiling, then where is the best place to find the new kernel source (I'd prefer to be able to get it from RedHat- I'm guessing I can't just use 2.4.18 config file), and which version should I find. What other tools, if any, will need recompiling after the new kernel is in place? Thanks for bearing with me this far.... -- NAME : Adam Allen.
