I just tested it, and it worked for me; kvm.git next.  Fastest reboot
I've ever seen.

Strange, yes.  Maybe it's a bad reset implementation in qemu, which
leads the guest to misdetect the graphics card, and then use movntps.

What version of qemu are you using?
