Although this obviously has nothing to do with the nested patches themselves (which didn't touch anything outside KVM, and certainly nothing related to smbfs) so there must be something wrong with the base version I used - which I thought (but I'll recheck) was just the current kvm.git master head at the time I sent the patches. Can I safely > apply your patch to the latest -rc kernel? I have rebased the patches to the latest kvm.git head at the time I sent the patches - not to any official KVM or Linux version. If the "latest rc kernel" contains a recent enough version of KVM, the patches might work on it, but I simply don't know (and haven't tested it).
