thank you, i will first check with v0.12.5 and then later try git HEAD if it does not help.

while trying to start the vm with a ubuntu 10.04 lts desktop cd to repair the corrupted xfs i got the following emulation error with
v0.12.5. is this something i should worry about?

This reproducible happens if I try to boot this VM via CD. dmesg has no relevant entries...
