Gcc44 works for me.
I saw Jakub marked this bug closed with "only i486 support that, but
RHEL5 use -march=i386", so do we have ongoing fix on qemu-kvm?
Should be easy to add a ./configure test for this.
Or, just use --extra-cflags=-march=i686 or similar.
