I experienced the same in my nested-npt huge page tests. What helped was
to remove the lines:

    if (memory < hpagesize) {
        return NULL;
    }

from file_ram_alloc() in exec.c. The problem is probably that qemu-kvm now
allocs the memory per-slot and not entirely anymore. But thats just a guess.
