Yeah - have an outstanding request in my list to at least print a
warning on this.  There are usecases where you want to use KVM
and the emulated support but there are gremlins as you discovered.

The TCG case was thought to be fixed.  KVM will indeed blow up if you
try to run instructions out of the emulated CXL memory whether or not they
cross page boundaries.  That could be fixed by a caching layer inbetween
so KVM thought it was running on page based translation but CXL was
doing some interesting write back stuff underneath. Can sort of see how
it might work but it's complex.

Any resolution whilst retaining the full routing / decoder emulation in
QEMU is tricky to put it lightly.  No one has taken it on yet as mostly
TCG get's us going.
