Older Linux 2.6 VM freezes randomly in KVM

Hello List,

I have the following host server:

Debian Wheezy 3.2.0-4-amd64

ii  pve-qemu-kvm                          2.2-28                             amd64        Full virtualization on x86 hardware
rc  qemu-kvm                              1.1.2+dfsg-6+deb7u19               amd64        Full virtualization on x86 hardware

Running a Debian 5 guest with 2.6.26-2-amd64 kernel.

The VM freezes randomly (once, twice in a month). There is no indication neither on the host or guest console or logs why is it happening. The machine is running a lot of other BSD and Windows VMs, only this has a problem. When it freezes I can still connect to the console with VNC but I will not be able to login or type anything and it is unreachable from the network.
Did anyone run into something similar? I don't want to upgrade neither the host nor the guest because besides this they are doing their job just fine.

This is also the oldest legacy VM there so I assume this is something related to the 2.6 kernels scheduler, maybe it does not get some resources or interrupts what it should and don't know what to do from that point but as I said there is no kernel crash or anything like that the VM just hangs.

Any ideas?

Thanks
