Just a note, I believe kvm_arch_commit_memory_region() maybe getting called every time there is a change in the memory region (e.g add, update, delete etc). So your architecture specific hook now need to be well aware of all those changes and act accordingly. This basically means that the svm.c will probably need to understand all those memory slot flags etc. IMO, having a separate ioctl to hint the size makes more sense if you are doing a unified bitmap but if the bitmap is per memslot then calculating the size based on the memslot information makes more sense.
