Apologies for multiple posts, might have a problem with my mail.
Can you please elaborate more on the configuration:
1. Is /dev/sdb a local disk, a network drive (FC,IB..), something else
2. What is the qemu-kvm invocation line looks like? specifically what is the
cache= setting for /dev/sdb
