Correct.

Hrm, that's a thought...  As soon as csch is issued, we're free to
process a ssch on another cpu while the interrupt for the csch is
returned.  But since this routine always sets private->state=IDLE as
long as is_final is true, which is the case here, we leak the cp being
processed at this point.  As you stated earlier, we need to consider the
fctl when it comes to cleaning things up here.  That's why the second
interrupt has a state of IDLE when things look (mostly) okay.

Me too.  And I would rather expect weirdness in the guest if it were a
base Linux problem, rather than at the host level.

No idea, but it means we would've left the cp struct intact even without
this patch.

I did this last night, and got frustrated.  The unfortunate thing was
that once it fires, we end up flooding our trace buffers with errors as
the guest continually retries.  So I need to either make a smarter trace
that is rate limited or just crash my host once this condition occurs.
Will try to do that between meetings today.

Perhaps it is a race across cpus, as you suggest.

I have not, and I've run some pretty unpleasant tests over the past
several months prior to the path handling changes.  Now, I haven't
explicitly looked at the dma slabs to see if there's any funny business
lurking after those tests, but the systems have behaved normally.  I
probably spent too much time thinking the problem lurks in the path
handling code, but rather it's just the extra I/Os that the guest drives
in reaction to the CRWs we give it.  (Hrm, could it be that we give N
CRWs based on the number of subchannels that share a chpid?  I should
re-try this with just a single vfio-ccw device within the guest.)
