Just got new virtual hosts using the AMD EPYC 7281 processor and am having
issues with guests crashing on start-up as per the attached snapshot.

If I use 4.9.103 or the default Debian stretch kernel there is no crash and
guest boots normally.

If I use the 4.6 Debian kernel from stretch-backports, my own 4.16.2 or 4.17rc7
then the guest crashes as per the attached image.

QEMU version is 2.12.
