Win8.1 in nested KVM virtualization => BSOD

Hi all,

I'm trying to get Win8.1 running in a nested KVM virtualization. WinXP works - but Win8.1 always runs into a BSOD.

Running the very same Win8.1 in a direct virtualization with KVM - everything is fine.

I assume that either some parameters are set up wrong or something inside KVM is missing...

I tried two combinations:
KVM from kernel 4.4.0-116 (ubuntu 16.04 LTS) with QEMU 2.5.0
and
KVM from kernel 3.4.67 (vanilla) with QEMU 2.1.0 => there I don't get anything displayed, it just stays black - but the direct virtualization (linux/kvm => Win 8.1) works smoothly!

Any ideas would be appreciated.
If you need more information / context, please let me know.

Thanks.

Erik
