Ok. Modifying the check as below works in above case:

        mdev_bus = symbol_get(mdev_bus_type);

        if (mdev_bus && (bus == mdev_bus) && !iommu_present(bus) ) {
                symbol_put(mdev_bus_type);
                ...
        }
