Network Performance Issues

Hi there

We have running WinXP guests on kvm84 and did some network performance
tests:

I started iometer on the WinXP Guest and connected a dynamo running on a
debian etch physical machine.

The results don't really make me happy:

Sending data into the Guest runs quite well at about
75 MB/s with virtio and
70 MB/s with e1000

Receiving data from the Guest is much slower:
17 MB/s with virtio and
11 MB/s with e1000

Tested with 1k Block.

With the e1000 my system load jumped up to 100% while sending or
receiving data. :-/

Does anyone have hints how to debug this issue?
Any configuration hints to get all this faster?

I also tested writing data onto a samba share which gave me about 5
MB/s. :-/

Regards
Sebastian Ries
