Huh?  Patch 2/8 adds this code:

+       mutex_lock(&kvm->lock);
+       if (kvm->arch.xics)
+               ret = -EEXIST;
+       else
+               kvm->arch.xics = xics;
+       mutex_unlock(&kvm->lock);

How is that racy?
