RE: qemu ppcemb illegal instruction

Yes thanks Liu, I am using this toolchain gcc-4.1.78-eglibc-2.5.78-dp-1 from the freescale ltib for 8548cds which I guess needs to be fixed for these mnemonics. Your patch works fine.

Also, I see all your e500 patches in the qemu git tree now (just created a new tree). I am able to build directly without applying your patches by hand.

Still don't see the guest console when I telnet to the boardip/port. Also tried without the console command line arg while starting qemu, tried to launch without console and without any -serial tcp::4444,server but no luck . Just get the qemu command prompt but nothing on the telnet session

Tried toggling ctrl-alt-f/ctr-alt-n etc..

Any other tips on this? I'd appreciate your help

Thanks, rahul

Rahul,

My toolchain(4.3.74-dp-2) interpret mftbl/u to mfspr,
that's why the code can work in my environment.

Could you try the patch in the attacthment?

Btw: have you found the e500 commit in upstream qemu git tree?

Hollis,

As mftbl/u are consider as mnemonics of mfspr,
I think it's more like a toolchain problem.
Do we need to fix this?

Best Regards.

Yu
