October 10, 2019 MEDIA ADVISORY M019-18 Space Launch System’s Core Stage Pathfinder Practice at Kennedy On Thursday, Oct. 17, media are invited to NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida to view the movement of the core stage pathfinder of the Space Launch System rocket inside the Vehicle Assembly Building. Crews will lift the 212-foot-long pathfinder nearly 200 feet into the air to practice moving it from the transfer aisle into High Bay 3. The movement is slated to last from 9 to 11 a.m. The practice going on all this month is part of preparations for the Artemis missions to the Moon. After capturing core stage pathfinder practice, the media are then welcome to take an escorted tour of the Pegasus barge on which the core stage pathfinder arrived on Sept. 27 and will leave upon on Oct. 31. Barge crew members will be available for interviews. Accreditation for this activity is open to U.S. media only; space is limited.
