NASA INVITES MEDIA TO CRAWLER-TRANSPORTER EVENT NOV. 16

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- Media are invited to a photo and interview
opportunity Friday, Nov. 16, at 8 a.m. EDT at NASA's Kennedy Space
Center, Fla., to view the move of crawler-transporter 2 to test
recently completed modifications. Media should arrive at Kennedy's
Press Site by 7:30 a.m. for transportation to the crawler.

The move will not be shown live on NASA Television, but video
highlights will air during Video File segments.

Crawler-transporter 2, known as CT-2, is being modified to extend the
lifetime of the crawler's systems to allow it to carry NASA's new
Space Launch System heavy-lift rocket and Orion spacecraft, as well
as other future space program vehicles, to Kennedy's launch pads.
These system modifications include AC generator replacement,
electronics replacement, cable replacement, tubing replacement,
hydraulic component replacement, cleaning of fuel tanks, and cleaning
of hydraulic systems. These modifications will allow the crawler,
which has supported NASA's Apollo and Space Shuttle Programs, to
continue supporting human spaceflight for another 20 years.

Journalists without NASA Kennedy accreditation need to apply for
credentials by noon on Nov. 15. International media accreditation for
this event is closed. Badges can be picked up at the Kennedy Space
Center Badging Office on State Road 405. Media must apply for
credentials online at:

https://media.ksc.nasa.gov

Any updates on the move will be available at 321-867-2525.

NASA's Ground Systems Development and Operations Program is overseeing
the crawler upgrade work. For more information about the program,

Video B-roll of the move will air on NASA TV's Video File. For NASA TV
