MEDIA INVITED TO SPACE SHUTTLE MODEL MOVE PHOTO OPPORTUNITY

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA is inviting media to cover the move of
the high-fidelity space shuttle model from the Kennedy Space Center
Visitor Complex in Florida to Kennedy's Launch Complex 39 turn basin
on Sunday, Dec. 11, starting as early as 7 a.m. EST.

The full-scale shuttle model is being transferred from Kennedy to
Space Center Houston, NASA Johnson Space Center's visitor center. The
model will temporarily stay at the turn basin until it is transported
via barge to Texas in the next several months. The move also helps
clear the way for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to begin
building a new facility next year to display space shuttle Atlantis
in 2013.

Reporters interested in just covering the start of the move at the
Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex should contact Andrea Farmer at
321-449-4318 by Dec. 9 to RSVP.

Journalists who want to cover the entire move and who do not have NASA
Kennedy media accreditation need to apply for credentials by noon on
Dec. 8. New international media accreditation for this event is
closed. Badges can be picked up at the Kennedy Space Center Badging
Office on State Road 405 from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 9. Media must
apply for credentials online at:

https://media.ksc.nasa.gov

Video b-roll of the event will be available that afternoon on the NASA
Television Video File. For NASA TV downlink information, schedules
and links to streaming video, visit:

Images will be posted on Kennedy's Media Gallery at:
