The satellite will also receive distress signals that trigger life-saving U.S. search and rescue operations. The latest Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) developed by NASA for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), called GOES-O, is targeted to launch April 28 at 6:24 p.m. EDT from Space Launch Complex (SLC 37B) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.
