MEDIA VIEWING OF HUBBLE HARDWARE FOR NEXT SHUTTLE MISSION SET

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - The hardware that will be flown aboard space
shuttle Atlantis' upcoming mission to NASA's Hubble Space Telescope,
or HST, will be available for media viewing at the Kennedy Space
Center on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Media will be able to view and
photograph the four payload carriers that will go into Atlantis'
cargo bay this month.

Media attending the event need to arrive at Kennedy's News Center by 9
a.m.

Dates and times of events are subject to change, especially given the
uncertainty of tropical weather. Updates are available by calling
321-867-2525.

After arriving at Kennedy's Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility, or
PHSF, where the flight hardware is being processed, media
representatives will receive a brief orientation to explain the
primary payload flight hardware that will be seen and their mission
objectives. Media representatives then will be taken inside the clean
room high bay at the PHSF.

The following managers will be available for interviews:

- Frank Cepollina, HST Program Manager, NASA Goddard Space Flight
Center
- Thomas Griffin, HST Observatory Manager, NASA Goddard Space Flight
Center
- Deborah Hahn, KSC STS-125 Mission Manager, NASA Kennedy Space Center

Other members of the Goddard Hubble servicing mission processing team
and astrophysics division from NASA's Science Mission Directorate
also will be available for interviews.

Because of the stringent contamination controls in effect for this
spacecraft inside the high bay, all photography equipment must be
precision-cleaned with the assistance or supervision of Hubble
personnel. Those planning to attend are required to wear long pants
and closed-toe shoes. Everyone must wear clean room attire, which
means full bunny suits, before entering the high bay. This includes
hood, coveralls, booties, facemask and gloves. Electronic flash
photography will be permitted. The lighting in the facility is high
pressure sodium, orange.

No suede, leather, vinyl attire or vinyl accessories will be permitted
inside the clean room. Also, no food, tobacco, lighters or matches,
chewing gum, hair combs, pocket knives, paper or pencils will be
permitted inside the clean room. Special writing materials will be
furnished. Also, to meet the stringent contamination controls in
effect, those attending are asked not to wear hairspray, deodorant,
cosmetics, jewelry, aftershave or perfume.

Foreign media accreditation for this event is closed. U.S reporters
who do not have a Kennedy media badge need to apply for credentials
by 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, online at:
