NASA ANNOUNCES TELECONFERENCE ABOUT LAUNCH PAD 39A REPAIRS

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - NASA will host a media teleconference to
discuss repair plans for damage to Launch Pad 39A with Space Shuttle
Program Manager John Shannon, Space Shuttle Processing Manager Rita
Willcoxon and Engineering Investigation Team Lead Perry Becker at 3
p.m. EDT, Thursday, June 26.

During Discovery's May 31 launch from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the
east wall of the pad's north flame trench suffered damage when about
3,500 bricks were torn away from the wall. The bricks were scattered
from the flame trench to the pad's perimeter fence.

To participate in the teleconference, reporters must RSVP by 2 p.m.,
Thursday, to the Kennedy newsroom by phoning 321-867-2468. For more
information about the ongoing pad repairs, visit:
