NEW ONLINE MEDIA ACCREDITATION FOR KSC MEDIA VISITS
The Kennedy Space Center Media Services Division has launched an online service for media representatives to gain access to KSC for media events at the following Web site:
Media representatives can access the new accreditation Web site, enter the required information and apply for a temporary badge to attend a specific event at KSC. The request will be verified and approved or denied by NASA/KSC Media Services and the requester will receive an e-mail reply with the results.
The events and dates available for media accreditation will be managed by KSC. Media representatives requesting access to KSC for a unique event not listed on the Web site should request access by calling 321-867-7711 or by sending e-mail to:
MediaAccreditation@kscems.ksc.nasa.gov
Once the initial personal data is entered into the system (Social Security number, date of birth, place of birth, etc.), there will be no need to reenter the same data for future requests. Users will be able to append a current request or create a new request based on personal data residing in the database.
Each time a new request is submitted, the requester is required to read and agree to the conditions set forth on the Guidelines Page where rules and regulations that require adherence are listed.
Minimum lead times for accreditation requests are as follows:
· 1-day minimum lead time for all U. S. citizens requesting a visit to KSC only
· 14-day minimum lead time for foreign nationals visiting KSC only (and not Cape Canaveral Air Force Station) and who are not on the U.S. Department of State “designated countries” list
· 30-day minimum lead time for:
o All foreign nationals requesting a visit to the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station
o All foreign nationals requesting a visit to KSC and who are from countries on the U.S. Department of State list of “designated countries”
o Feature film requests
o TV show requests
o TV Movie of the Week requests
o TV mini-series requests
o Documentary requests (non-news)
For more information, contact Bill Johnson or Kandy Warren at 321-867-2468.
Note: Media representatives are defined as those who are actively engaged in the pursuit of information distribution in any manner or form about the Space Program or other NASA-KSC activities. Examples of media representatives are: newspaper, television, photo, magazine and online journalists; radio broadcasters; novelists; producers and/or directors of feature films, documentaries, or television; professional artists; contractor public relations personnel; and freelancers. Freelancers in any of the above categories (who are assigned by a professionally recognized organization and whose previous accomplishments are highly visible, respected, and widely recognized) are granted access to KSC if they qualify under one of the following two conditions:
1. They must be on assignment for a professionally recognized organization and the request for accreditation is made by that organization. A freelancer cannot request accreditation on behalf of the organization that he or she is representing.
2. The freelancer has had previous accomplishments that are highly visible, respected and widely recognized.
