NOTE TO EDITORS:

SPACE LIFE SCIENCES LAB AND SPACE COMMERCE WAY DEDICATION CEREMONY SET FOR NOV. 19

NASA-Kennedy Space Center and the State of Florida are hosting a dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the Space Life Sciences Lab (formerly known as the Space Experiment Research and Processing Laboratory - SERPL) and Space Commerce Way, Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 9 a.m. at the new lab.

The 100,000+square-foot facility, completed in August of this year, represents a partnership between NASA and the State of Florida.  The State, through Florida Space Authority, built the research lab.  The new facility is host to NASA, NASA's Life Sciences Services contractor Dynamac Corporation, Bionetics Corporation, and researchers from the University of Florida.  Dynamac Corporation leases the facility.  The Florida Space Research Institute is responsible for gaining additional tenants from outside the NASA community.

Space Commerce Way is the new public roadway providing 24-hour access to International Research Park.  The road also connects NASA Causeway and Kennedy Parkway to provide a throughway to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex and the Astronaut Hall of Fame.

Media planning to attend this event should contact Tracy Young at the NASA-KSC News Center at 321-867-2468 by close of business Monday, Nov. 17.  Media without accreditation for this event should fax the following information to the NASA-KSC News Center at 321-867-2692:  full legal name, title, news organization, address, telephone number, date of birth, place of birth, Social Security number and Country of Citizenship.

Media should arrive at the KSC press site by 8:15 a.m. the morning of the event for transporation to the Space Life Sciences Lab.  A tour of the facility will occur after the dedication ceremony.
