KENNEDY SPACE CENTER
SHUTTLE & PAYLOAD PROCESSING STATUS REPORT
Monday, July 8, 2002 (12:30 p.m.)

NOTE: This is an orbiter processing report and does not necessarily reflect the chronological order of upcoming Space Shuttle flights. Visit http://www-pao.ksc.nasa.gov/kscpao/schedule/schedule.htm on the KSC Home Page for the latest schedule of future Shuttle missions.

MISSION STS-107 -SPACEHAB/ FREESTAR MICROGRAVITY RESEARCH MISSION

VEHICLE - Columbia/OV-102
LAUNCH DATE: TBD
MISSION DURATION: 16 days
CREW: Husband, McCool, Anderson, Chawla, Brown, Clark, Ramon
ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE AND INCLINATION: 150 nautical miles/39 degrees

Shuttle Processing Note: Inspections of Columbia's Main Propulsion System (MPS) liquid oxygen and hydrogen flow liners are complete. Due to the magnetic property of the stainless flow liners on Columbia, ultrasonic testing proved to be a more effective means than eddy current to determine if cracks were present. Using ultrasound, technicians identified three cracks on engine two liquid hydrogen flow liner. No further decisions are expected until teams are able to inspect Endeavour late this week.

MISSION STS-112 -- 15TH ISS FLIGHT (9A) - BA, ITS S1

VEHICLE: Atlantis/OV-104
LAUNCH DATE: August 22 (Under Review)
MISSION DURATION: 10 days
CREW: Ashby, Melroy, Wolf, Sellers, Magnus, Yurchikhin
ORBITAL ALTITUDE AND INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles, 51.6 degrees

Shuttle Processing Note: Processing continues for Atlantis' launch to the International Space Station and will be scheduled once the flow liner issue is resolved. Right-hand Orbital Maneuvering System (OMS) Pod checkout is in work. Preparations for integrated hydraulic and flight control checkout are scheduled this week.

	MISSION: STS-113 - 16th ISS Flight (11A) - ITS, P1

VEHICLE: Endeavour/OV-105
LAUNCH DATE: October 6 (Under Review)
CREW: Wetherbee, Loria, Lopez-Alegria, Herrington; (ISS up) Bowersox, Budarin, Thomas; (ISS down) Korzun, Whitson, Treschev
ORBITAL INSERTION ALTITUDE AND INCLINATION: 122 nautical miles/51.6 degrees

Shuttle Processing Note: Shuttle Endeavour continues deservicing and processing for its next mission to the International Space Station. Heat shield removal is complete and preparations for removal of the Space Shuttle Main Engines are in work. Following engine removal, inspections will begin on the MPS flow liners to determine if similar cracks are evident to the ones found on the other three orbiters. Inspections are scheduled to be complete late this week.

ORBITER MAJOR MODIFICATION PERIOD

VEHICLE: Discovery/OV-103

Shuttle Processing Note: Discovery is in the Vehicle Assembly Building awaiting the start of its Orbiter Major Modification (OMM) period that is scheduled to begin at the Kennedy Space Center late this summer.
