What was the intention by Linux kernel in the design of this PAT usage? (as I read the Intel manual there are several useful applications...but I don't quite understand its deeper context) b. It is also mentioned (in the manual) that this feature is meant for BIOS developer - don't understand...any inputs? c. What is this MTRR? It is closely related to PAT....but supposed to provide more information. Neither can I understand what is the purpose of MTRR as documented in Documentation/mtrr.txt...it just describe WHAT is MTRR..detecting it presence....but WHY? What are its real application? How can we use the information?
