I didn't even find a setting in KDE, so I can't tell whether there is one that doesn't work reliably. However when I bought my new computer a few months back, I had the same issue. This is how I solved it: I created a file 'audio_disable_powersave.conf' with the following single line content:


options snd_hda_intel power_save=0
