Hey Harald,

It does work, I am writing this email in external vim editor.
You need to go to settings -> plugins and enable External Composer Plugin,
and set up the command to launch external editor.
Mine is
     /usr/bin/alacritty -e /usr/bin/nvim %f

Make sure you have full paths as env vars don't work in this scenario and
shortcuts like ~ do not get expanded.

After you need to restart kmail/kontact. Then external editor will open
automatically when you start writing an email
