Help with Kate autosave versioning.

 I'm wondering if there's a way to accomplish file versioning in kate by
 appending a timestamp to the suffix portion of the Open/Save > 
Advanced > Suffix textbox.  I blindly tried a few variable forms but 
it seems to escape them.  Any ideas?
