Some settings are covered by freedesktop.org specifications so that they are
or could be shared with applications built on different software stacks, e.g.
GNOME.

In such cases they are stored in $HOME/.config (or whatever XDG_CONFIG_HOME
points to).

Cheers,
Kevin

P.S: some "static" settings like entries in the application launcher menu are
considered application data and thus stored under $HOME/.local/share (or
wherever $XDG_DATA_HOME points to)
