Ducan,

Normally I don't question what you write but... Your technical
explanation of how things work in Linux is right but you have me
confused with what you might actually mean with PWD.

pwd on cli will show you what directory you are in... Present Working
Directory. explain what you are talking about with PWD and $HOME
