As I'm on Gentoo, most optional dependencies get exposed in the form of USE flags, and I have turned off what I can. No akonadi, no nepomuk, strigi is installed as a non-optional dependency of something, as is akonadi-server. Soprano is installed as required, but with no back- end at all (redland is way slow and I don't have a working java installed so no sesame2, I'll look at it when they get the new faster C++ one working, I forgot the name ATM). Sure, the features are nice, but given the hassle with indexing and the space the indexes take up, I don't think it's worth it, not for me, so I prefer to keep it disabled, at least for now. -- Duncan - List replies preferred.
