Volume Controls

I have been running KDE on my laptop and the volume control buttons have Just 
Worked (TM) since 4.2.1 through all the upgrades, but with 4.2.4 it all 
stopped. Nothing else has changed, they just no longer work.

Where do I begin looking to see why it is not working? I did not use any 
special key bindings or anything before, like I said it Just Worked (TM)...
