Felix is a guru when it comes to screen resolutions and displays. He has
helped many people on the SuSE lists. Take his advice and go the two url's he
supplied you and follow what they describe. Then come back and ask again if
you still have problems.
  
And I really appreciate his help as anybody who helped me on this and other issues.
My problem was solved when I did this:
Edit in /etc/X11/xorg.conf this section:

Section "Monitor"
....
   Option       "DPI" "90x90"<<<<<<<<<  Add this
....
   UseModes     "Modes[0]"
EndSection
  
Actually, I added
Option "DPI" "96x96"

>From there, all the fonts look normal.
Or normal as they did when I had kde 3.5.
Qt-creator was an example showing this.
