Nikos, and John,

Did that. Changed to larger fonts in KDE and GTK in a root session. Didn't 
change anything. And then as suggested ran QTsettings as root. It said that 
the fonts were my specified size but in opening Yast they were the same small 
fonts.

I guess I will try Felix's advice to see if that works. Will let you all know.
