On my system (Mandriva 2009.0) a single application expands to about 40% of 
the Task Manager. (I have a wide-screen flat panel and the Task Manager is 
allotted a bit more that half of one of my panels. ) Since I usually have 
more that one application active on each desktop, this is not a "feature" 
that bothers me.
