SSL downloads not resumable via proxy

I've had a long-standing problem with konquerer/kget whereby ssl
downloads will restart instead of resuming if I configure konquerer to
use my squid proxy for ssl. I doubt that this is a squid problem as
it's just a simple http connect.

Is this a known problem? Is there anyway to fix it? I'm using KDE 3.5.8
on FreeBSD 7.0.

whilst I can just have https bypass squid, I'd like to have it managed
by squid's delay-pools (bandwidth management).
