knetworkmanager and pptp

Hi list,

some days ago I tried to configure a pptp connection through knetworkmanager
on my kubuntu 7.10. I have installed network-manager-pptp with its depencies
(adept) and went into knetworkmanager's configuration menu. Choosing ppp as
my vpn service I get the message "No interface for VPN installed. Please
check your installation" (sorry for my inexactly translation. I get this
message in german).

A brand new installation of kubuntu 8.04 also fails. Any suggestions? A friend
who runs ubuntu 8.04 and gnome have no problem with his nm-applet and pptp.

Peter
