KDE always had Java bindings but very few people used them and thus the 
bindings developers gave higher priority to other languages such as Ruby.

Since Trolltech now maintains Qt bindings and Java becoming available in 
distributions "main" repositories, this might shift again.

There is also a special purpose mailinglist for discussions on 
bindings:kde-bindings
