My guess is that the site is using JavaScript to control the applet through the so-calles LiveConnect extension which should be implemented in Konqueror . Assuming that there is not much difference in the 3.5.8 version of Konqueror and the just about to be release 3.5.9, you could report this as a bug, I think the appropriate component would be KHTML. The problem with JavaScript is though that the site might be doing something "clever" like checking the browser identity.
