As I anticipated, the workaround for the konsole does not fix other applications. For example, when I receive new mail in icedove (thunderbird), no beep is heard as used to be.

Any idea?

Thank you.

No, they are both in System Bell.

But, if a switch in Settings->Bell to "System Notification", it works! A very beautiful sound progressively damped... If works in the root konsole as well.

Right now, I am happy with this workaround, this sound is nicer than the other one :-)  In order to keep it forever, I have to Settings -> Save as default. Is it correct?

But maybe it can be worth investigating why "System Notification" does not work... Maybe it can affect other applications as well...

Thank you
