Hi!
  Maybe the index files for your mailboxes are corrupted. Try this:
  1) Backup your mail directory(ies).
  2) cd to the mail directory
  3) remove all the files which names begin with a dot (they aren't normally
visible, use ls -a or an appropriate option for your file manager). They have
suffix .index and .index.ids.
  4) Run kmail. It will take a longer time to start, recreating the index
     files.
