I had the same problem connecting to a Windows 2k3 machine. it was not that rdesktop was not installed, but that it was not properly configured. Win 2k3 require that you use rdp v5 protocol. This is not shipped with KDE 3.5

This client is a graphical interface to rdesktop, a command line tool which
apparently is not installed at your machine, as the error message says.
Install it and you'll be able to connect to a MS TS using krdc.
