Hi all,
I'm running 3.5.4 on Gentoo (split ebuilds). I wanted to use HAL, but
allthough I have all the makings (HAL, dbus, pmount) I wasn't able to
activate HAL in the KDE control center because the check-boxes were
greyed out (they still are). I found a workaround, though, I was able to
edit ~/.kde3.5/share/config/mediamanagerrc and set
HalBackendEnabled=true and after a KDE restart HAL now works.
I went to #kde on freenode and met a guy with the same issue. Also on
the Gentoo forums there's a thread about this:
http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-485954.html
Any idea what the greyed out check boxes for HAL and CD polling are
about?
Regards
Sebastian
