Hi I sent another mail after that one pointing that out. I disabled it in Konq with Yast's etc/sysconfig editor. Having said that though the same problem occurred again a few days later and I re instated the global ipv6 disable. No problems of that sort since. I did this on the basis that the only apps that use the internet on my machine are the browsers and kmail. Surely it's not needed internally? A web search also indicated that ipv6 is currently not efficient in many cases as the roll out has been slow. Essentially a none ipv6 capable server has to forward requests to an ipv6 server though a process called tunnelling. Nice name but it's another overhead. Also it would seem that windoze xp was ok because ipv6 is not installed by default. Please note the use of the word "seem". It's been available there for a long time.
